There are severe delays of up to 90 minutes on the M1 southbound in Leicestershire between J21A and J21 near Leicester due to an infrastructure defect.

“Emergency repairs have been completed and all lanes are open on the M1 southbound between J21A and J21 near Leicester
“Severe delays of up to two hours remain in place, so please allow time for them to ease.”
Lanes 2, 3 and 4 are currently closed and National Highways service providers are on scene assessing the road surface.
Delays of up to 90 minutes above usual journey times are reported on approach to the lane closures, with approx. 6 miles of congestion back to J22
Road users are also advised to be aware of significant delays on local roads in the area as traffic looks to divert and avoid these delays.
