At 14:46 on Wednesday 25 August, crews from Ashfield, Alfreton, Mansfield, Shirebrook, Worksop, Edwinstowe, Long Eaton, Stapleford, London Road, Tuxford and Warsop were called to fire in a barn at a farm in Skegby, Ashfield.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
‘Animals that were in the barn were evacuated, with one llama sustaining injuries. There is no update on the llama currently.
‘We currently have one pump from Ashfield Fire Station and two Fire Investigation officers in attendance.
‘The fire has been brought down to a manageable size and a controlled burning is taking place for the next 12 hours.
‘There are no reports of any human injuries or further animal injuries.
Station Manager Stan Copson said: “Fire crews have worked hard to contain the blaze and it is now under control. Thank you to our partners at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service for their support at this incident.
“Due to the nature of the fire, a controlled burn will be taking place for the next 12 hours, with one crew remaining on scene.
“Any members of the public that can smell and see smoke are asked to keep their windows and doors shut whilst our crews bring this incident to a close.”

‘We have two fire engines on scene who are continuing to monitor the scene and dampened down. There is no further update on the injured llama.’
