Nottingham & Derby Hot Air Balloon Club has published a stunning calendar of balloon photos taken by members this year.
The Covid-19 pandemic made 2020 very difficult for almost every sport and private aviation was banned for several months. However the club was allowed to fly between July and October and managed 17 flights during this period.
Members had to wear face masks during the balloon outings and were careful to follow all government regulations.
The club owns two balloons and has been a regular sight around Nottingham since 1978. It is run as a not-for-profit group of enthusiasts and is believed to be unique as the only balloon club in the UK with membership open to the general public.
Members take turns being on the ground crew to earn a flight in the basket. No previous experience is required but it is essential to be a car driver.
The club are looking forward to July 2021 when they will be attending a large international balloon festival in France with about 500 balloons from all around the world.
The A4 size professionally printed calendar is being sold at £8 (plus £2 postage) and can be purchased by phoning 0115 854 1028 or emailing ndhabc@hotmail.com. The club hope to organise some training evenings next year which will be a great opportunity for people to get involved in the sport of ballooning.
