Local cricket club celebrates £3,000 funding boost

A local cricket club based in Nottinghamshire is celebrating after successfully securing funding.

Caythorpe Cricket Club is celebrating after successfully securing £3,000 in funding through Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme.

The funding will be used to improve the club’s pavilion and purchase much-needed equipment.

Michelle Welsh, MP for Sherwood Forest and Gareth Hankin Managing Director Persimmon Nottinghamshire, visited the club to formally present a cheque for £3,000.

Freddie King, Caythorpe Cricket Club, said: “Myself and Caythorpe Cricket Club are very grateful for Persimmon’s donation. This is a huge step for a village club such as ourselves which will go a long way towards improving our facilities for our members and the wider community.”

Michelle Welsh MP, who attended the cheque presentation, added: “Caythorpe Cricket Club is an essential part of our community, offering a great space for people to connect through sport. It’s fantastic to see businesses like Persimmon partnering with local clubs to support their growth and impact.”

Gareth Hankin, Managing Director at Persimmon Nottingham, said: “We are proud to support Caythorpe Cricket Club with this £3,000 donation. Their commitment to providing opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in cricket is great to see. At Persimmon, we are dedicated to helping the communities where we operate thrive, and we hope this funding will help the club to continue its excellent work.”
