‘These officers will be on hand for reassurance, and to respond to any concerns as members of the public commute home or use the rail network during the course of the weekend.

‘Officers will be on patrol onboard trains but also at stations, including transport hubs.

‘We will also work closely with the Metropolitan Police and the City of London Police who continue to lead this incident.’

Chief Superintendent Martin Fry from British Transport Police, said: “This was a visibly shocking incident and my deepest thoughts are with those who were affected.

“In response, we will have more officers on patrol as Londoners make their way home this evening and throughout the weekend. These officers are there to reassure the public, so please approach us if you have any concerns.

“I’d also encourage passengers to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to BTP by sending a text to 61016.”

Please be aware, London Bridge station, and it’s Underground and Mainline services, remain closed. Trains passing through the station are currently not stopping. Please check with Transport for London and National Rail Enquiries before travelling.
