The £10million refurbishment of Long Eaton’s town centre will see overnight diversions for a week from Sunday 4 October as the main Tamworth Road is shut to traffic.
The route will be closed from 7pm until 5am with the last closure being lifted on the morning of Saturday 10 October.
This is so work can be switched from one side of the road to the other as new paving is installed.
Tamworth Road has already become one-way while construction is carried out – with vehicles heading south barred until December. Contractors aim to minimise disruption by only closing the road completely at night.
A spokesman for the project – which is being fuelled by the £25million Long Eaton Town Deal – said:
“Thank you for your patience during these works.
“We understand that highway works can be frustrating. Work is progressing well and you can now see the finished areas – which give an idea of how your town centre will look.”
Another monthly drop-in event for people to find out more about how Long Eaton is being transformed will be held on Tuesday 6 October at Rowells bar – a former drapers shop which is at no22 – between 11am and 2pm to ask questions and get all the latest updates.
