A vehicle involved in works in Lady Bay had some bad luck after becoming trapped in a hole.
The incident on Wednesday 9 June happened in Moore Close in Lady Bay.
Engineers are working on utilities for the area – a Trust Utility Services lorry involved in the works became trapped after one side of the vehicle became trapped after being driven close to a large hole and ‘falling’ into it.
Several recovery vehicles were called in to pull the heavy truck away and out of the hole.
The engineers had been repairing water pipes on Adbolton Lane and the lorry was pumping water out.
They finally freed the lorry with a crane.
Then last night residents report that they damaged a gas pipe, so residents are without gas.
Western Power turned off the electricity as the cables are close to the gas pipe.
A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution told The Wire:
‘We were contacted on 9 June after a Severn Trent vehicle became trapped in a new utilities hole that contained a gas pipe and our electricity cable.
‘Although the cable was not damaged, we turned off electricity supplies for safety reasons.
‘This affected 63 customers from 20.25 to 22.00.
‘The power was then turned back on, following a thorough examination of the cable.
‘Our engineers will be on site again today to carry out further assessments and to ensure the cable is unaffected by any future activity in and around the hole.’
