M1 closed in Nottinghamshire for spillage and debris clear up after collision between two lorries and a car – long delays

The M1 is closed northbound between J26 and J28 .

Highways England said:

‘M1 northbound will remain closed between J26 and J28 whilst we deal with a large spillage and debris from an RTC.

‘Diversion routes are in place.

‘Please allow extra time if you plan to travel.

Derbyshire Police said:

‘Officers were called at 9.25am to reports of a collision between a Nissan Navara and an HGV.

‘It happened on the M1 just before junction 28 on the northbound carriageway.

‘No injuries have been reported at this stage, but there is a lot of debris and fuel in the road so a full closure is in place from junction 26 on the northbound side.

‘A diversion route is also in place.

‘There are no details about how long it could be, but it may take some time to clear the area.’

AA Roadwatch reports:
‘Road closed due to debris on road, accident, two lorries and a car involved and oil spillage on M1 Northbound between J26 A610 (Nottingham / Eastwood) and J28 A38 (Alfreton / Mansfield).

‘Congestion to around 3 miles on either side of the closure.’
