The M1 is closed northbound J19 – J20 in Leicestershire due to a serious collision between a car and a truck.
Leicestershire police and ambulance service are on scene.
Police accident investigation is in progress.
Road users are advised to follow the hollow circle diversion route:
- Exit the M1 northbound at Junction 19 and join the M6 westbound.
- Continue westbound on the M6 to the M6 Junction 1.
- Exit the M6 at Junction 1.
- Then take the third exit onto the A426 north/eastbound.
- Continue along the A426 for approximately 2kms to the A426/A5 Gibbets Hill Roundabout.
- At Gibbets Hill Roundabout take the second exit northbound and continue along the A426 for approximately 5km to the A426/A4303 Lutterworth Roundabout.
- At the roundabout turn right(east) and take the third exit onto the A4303.
- Continue eastbound along the A4303 for approximately 0.5 kms to M1 Junction 20.
- At junction M1 Junction 20 take the first exit left and re-join the M1 northbound.
The diversion route is heavily congested, please also consider continuing along the M6 to J2 and taking the M69 northbound to re-join the M1 at J21.
