Update: M1 southbound J26 – 25 remains closed ‘throughout the day’ after multi-vehicle collision – see diversion

The motorway is closed for accident investigation work.

Update at 1:15 pm

‘The M1 in Nottinghamshire remains closed southbound J26 (Nottingham) – J25 (Derby) following a serious collision which occurred in the early hours of the morning. The road is expected to remain closed throughout the afternoon whilst complex recovery and clear-up take place.’

National Highways said:

‘The M1 is closed southbound between J26 and J25 near Nottingham following a multiple vehicle collision.

‘All emergency services are working at the scene with a response being led by Nottinghamshire police.

‘All traffic within the closure has been released from the scene.

‘The road is likely to remain closed throughout the day for collision investigation work.

‘Please approach the closure with care as delays of up to 30 minutes back towards J27.

Diversion Route

Road users are advise to follow the Hollow Triangle diversion symbol on road signs.

  • Exit at J26 and at the roundabout take the first exit on to the A640 eastbound.
  • The roundabout with the A6002 take the fourth exit.
  • Follow the A6002 southbound to the mini-roundabout with the A6007 near Bramcote Hills Park.
  • Turn left on to the A6007 eastbound to the Bramcote Island roundabout with the A52.
  • Take the third exit from the roundabout on to the A52 Brian Clough Way.
  • Remain on the A52 to J25 of the M1 roundabout. Take the second exit to re-join the M1 southbound.

 

AA Roadwatch reports:

‘Road closed and long delays due to accident investigation work on M1 Southbound from J26 A610 (Nottingham / Eastwood) to J25 A52 Brian Clough Way (Nottingham / Derby). Congestion to halfway back to J27 (Hucknall / Underwood), before J28 (Alfreton / Mansfield).
