There are considerable delays in the area.
Highways England said:
‘Update: All lanes will remain stopped whilst fire work on putting the fire out. Please use an alternative route if you plan to travel between these junctions.’
‘The M1 southbound Tibshelf Services (Tibshelf) to J28 ( A38 Mansfield Matlock ) traffic has been temporarily STOPPED due to a vehicle fire.
‘Traffic Officers are currently at scene, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service
are on their way to the area to assist. If planning travel, avoid the area.’
AA Reports:
‘Road blocked due to earlier vehicle fire on M1 Southbound from J29 A617 (Chesterfield / Mansfield) to J28 A38 (Alfreton / Mansfield).
‘Blocked since 08:30. Fire services are still on scene and have extinguished the vehicle.’
