The M6 in Staffordshire is closed northbound between J12 (for Telford/Cannock) and J13 (for Stafford) due to a collision involving a car and an HGV.
Highways England said:
‘As a result of the collision, the HGV involved has also caught fire. Traffic on the southbound carriageway has also been held whilst the fire is being extinguished.
‘Emergency services including Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance. Highways England Traffic Officers are also providing assistance on scene with traffic management.
‘Traffic travelling northbound should follow the hollow black triangle diversion symbol. Exit the M6 at J12 and take the A5 westbound. Continue until the junction with the A449 at Gailey. Join the A449 northbound and continue northbound to then rejoin the M6 at J13.
‘Please allow extra time for your journey should you be travelling in the area this afternoon.’
