M6 closed southbound at M1 link – closed throughout this morning after collision

The M6 in Leicestershire is closed southbound between J2 (Coventry) and the M1/A14 at Catthorpe Interchange due to a serious collision involving 2 cars which has occurred on the link road from the M6 south to the M1 south.

All emergency services including Leicestershire Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also providing assistance with traffic management on scene.

Due to the nature of this incident, the road is expected to remain closed throughout the morning.

Diversion Route

  • Exit the M6 southbound at J2 and join the M69 northbound
  • Continue on the M69 northbound until the junction with the M1 at J21
  • At the roundabout, join the M1 southbound
  • Continue on the M1 southbound until the junction with the A14/M6 and then continue onward journey
