A West Bridgford family are celebrating their beloved cat returning home – after she was found having spent three weeks locked in a neighbourhood shed!
Mabel had been missing for eight days when The Wire first covered her story back on 13 October and despite a concerted effort by family, friends and neighbours to track her down, there had been no positive sightings as the time since she was last seen entered its fourth week.
On Tuesday evening, however, the family received the call they had been waiting for – with the amazing news that she had been located just a few roads away by a local resident preparing to give their garden a final pre-winter tidy.

Unsurprisingly, she had lost a lot of weight but after an emergency trip to the vets was proclaimed to be in ‘remarkably good health’ and is now recuperating at home – with the cat flap firmly locked for the foreseeable future!
News of Mabel’s return has reached near and far – an unknown wellwisher broke the news on some of the ‘missing’ posters which the family had previously put up (see pic), while a Facebook post has so far received over 1,000 reactions, 100+ comments and been shared on ‘lost pets’ groups in Northern Ireland, Devon and Northumberland.
The family have been taken aback by the response and put the interest down to the positive message it sends to everyone who has a pet go missing – never give up hope for their safe return home.’
