Two suspects have been charged after a mixture of air and bladed weapons were found in a van.
Police discovered the vehicle in Wilford Lane, West Bridgford, while investigating the reported sighting of a firearm.
A pair of air rifles were subsequently found in the back of the van by police, just after 5pm on Sunday (27 April).
Both a machete and a kitchen knife were also recovered from within the same vehicle by the officers in attendance.
All the weapons were seized by police.
A 60-year-old from Clifton, would go on to be charged with possessing a knife in public and possessing an air weapon in public.
A 32-year-old from Kingston on Soar, was also charged with possessing an air weapon in public.
Both suspects have been released on bail ahead of an appearance at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 15 May.
Inspector Andy Hallam, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“It is an offence for someone to possess an air weapon in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse that they can prove.
“Examples of a valid excuse could be that that someone is carrying an air rifle to and from a shooting club, or taking a new air weapon home from a dealer.
“While transporting the air rifle in one of these situations, we’d advise that it remain covered, either in a gun slip or in a case.”
