Both face a charge of maliciously wounding. A boy aged 15 is charged with having a machete on Fletcher Gate on Friday January 11 and threatening unlawful violence.

The other teenager, who is a year older, denied affray and having a bladed article.
Both are too young to be named in public.

One needed crutches when came into court. The other had an arm in a sling for the hearing at a specially convened sitting of the youth court, which lasted for nearly two hours.

They were accompanied by relatives but members of the public were not admitted.

The pair had legal representatives who did not challenge the move to send the matter to the crown court, where a trial will be arranged.
