Maid Marian Way lane closures for new traffic signals – delays expected

Works are progressing on Maid Marian Way in Nottingham.

  • Two bus stops on Mount Street are back in use as of Sunday 13 April, thank you for using alternative stops while these were out of action

From Monday 14 April – Saturday 19 April, works start to put in the permanent signals at the main Maid Marian Way / Upper Parliament Street / Derby Rd junction. These works will require lane closures to provide safe working space in the middle of the junction – see details below.

  • Mon 15- Wed 16 April – Maid Marian Way northbound reduced to one lane. Tollhouse Hill southbound reduced to one lane.   Bus stops unaffected.
  • Thurs 17 – Sat 19 April – Upper Parliament Street reduced to one lane outbound.  Inbound lane to Upper Parliament Street unaffected. Bus stops unaffected.

Transport Nottingham said:

‘We are still awaiting final confirmation on the delivery of the materials required for the kerbs on Upper Parliament Street, however we are programming this 5 week construction phase to take place from Tuesday 22 April. During these works, Upper Parliament Street outbound will be reduced to one lane. That means you will need to allow more time to make a journey through the area.

‘Works will take place to install the kerbs on the north side first and then switch to the south side.  This will require the adjacent lane to the kerb works to be taken out to provide safe working space. Inbound traffic to Upper Parliament Street will be maintained at all times, and traffic management arrangements will be switched, but the effect will be just one lane outbound from Upper Parliament Street to the junction for this 5 week period. Bus stops will be unaffected.

During this phase, Mount St will be unaffected as will Maid Marian Way northbound and Tollhouse Hill southbound.’

Nottingham City Transport:

‘Between Monday 14th April and Saturday 19th April, there will be lane restrictions on Tollhouse Hill, Maid Marian Way and Upper Parliament Street. This may cause delays to services as they pass through the area.’
