Operation Reacher responded to reports of a male being in possession of knife on Central Avenue yesterday afternoon.
Police say that on their arrival the male had already made off but after an area search and a brief chase the male was located, still in possession of the knife.
A spokesperson said:
‘He was swiftly arrested and taken to custody where he has been charged for the offence.
‘Another example of great team work between concerned members of the public and the police
