A 54-year-old man was also detained and he remains in police custody for questioning.

A fifth person, a 36-year-old man, was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply following a raid in Shakespeare Street in Nottingham city centre.

Enquiries continue into the three properties in order to establish the circumstances of the finds.

Detective Sergeant Louise Bradford is leading the investigation. She said: “The action yesterday sends out a clear message to those who want to sell drugs on our streets – we will not tolerate it and we will take action.

“This was excellent work by officers who executed three Misuse of Drugs Act warrants and made five arrests.

•  Why police made nine arrests in Nottingham city centre

“Officers visited properties in Bentinck Court in Sneinton and Shakespeare Street in the city centre on Monday (3 May 2021).

“The proactive raids responded to feedback about supply of drugs which has such a big impact on the community.”

Neighbourhood Inspector Karl Thomas for Sneinton was pleased with the outcome.

He said: ” Drugs is a priority for us in the area and something we are committed to tackling. The local neighbourhood team responding to community concerns worked closely with officers to obtain and subsequently execute the warrant.

“I’m really pleased with the outcome and it’s testament to the officers involved for their hard work, professionalism and tenacity.”
