Man, 19, dies following single-vehicle collision in Nottinghamshire

A man has died following a serious road collision.

Emergency services were called to Victoria Street, Newark, at around 10.30pm yesterday (18 May), following a single-vehicle collision.

A 19-year-old man who was driving the van involved suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.

His family has been informed and are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

Victoria Street was closed for several hours but has since been reopened.

Detective Constable Liah Lane, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a truly tragic incident that resulted in the untimely death of a young man.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends, who are currently being supported at this sad time.

“An investigation is currently ongoing to establish exactly what happened, so it’s extremely important that anyone who can assist us does so.

“We’d ask that anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage or CCTV that could aid our inquiries comes forward immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting incident 925 of 18 May 2023.
