Man, 75, dies six days after Nottingham assault

Police have charged a man with manslaughter after a man died following an assault.

Neil Robinson, aged 75, was attacked in Ranson Road, Chilwell, at around 12.20pm on 16 December last year.

He was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre where he sadly died six days later (22 December 2021) after his condition deteriorated.

James Gill, of Station Road, Arksey, Doncaster, was charged with manslaughter yesterday (6 January 2022) and remanded in custody.

The 39-year-old was due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (7 January 2022).

Detective Inspector Becky Hodgman said: “This is an extremely difficult time for Mr Robinson’s family and they are being supported by our specialist trained officers.

“A significant investigation has been ongoing since the incident and I would like to thank witnesses who have come forward to assist our investigation.

“We urge anyone who hasn’t yet spoken to officers to get in touch if they witnessed the incident or know anything about the circumstances leading up to it.”
