Man alleged to have been assaulted by a group in Nottingham

A man was taken to hospital after he was assaulted in a street.

Police were called to The Wells Road in St Ann’s at around 7.40pm last night after it was alleged that a group of people had attacked a man.

Officers quickly arrived and arrested four men on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.

No weapons are believed to have been used in the assault and police are now appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

A scene was in place in The Wells Road while officers made their enquiries. It has since been stood down.

The man’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Excellent work from response officers led to the swift arrest of four people in connection with this incident.

“This was a brutal attack that has put a man in hospital and we are working hard to establish the full circumstances.

“We are not looking for any further suspects in connection with this case, however, there will be an increased police presence in the area to address any concerns from residents.

“I would now appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch as soon as possible.”
