Man appears in court after assault at a Nottingham Tesco Express

A suspect has been remanded in custody after a man was violently attacked outside a Tesco Express.

The 46-year-old needed four stitches above his eye and broke his wrist after being punched during the assault.

Jordan Coombes, 25, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm and for possession of a knife, in connection with the incident in Alfreton Road, Radford, at around 6.40pm on 9 January 2022.

Coombes, of no fixed address, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 27 January and was remanded in custody until 24 February, when he will appear before Nottingham Crown Court.

Detective Constable Steven Willetts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This assault left the victim needing stitches to his face and with a fractured wrist.

“We are pleased to have been able to charge someone in connection with this attack, and they have now been remanded in custody.”
