Man arrested after live-streaming assault at a Nottingham property

A police response has led to an arrest following an assault which was live-streamed over social media.

Police were called to reports that a man was being attacked after concerned viewers spotted the video at around 4am this morning (Thursday 10 February 2022).

With help from a caller, officers were able to make their way to an address in Mansfield Road, Nottingham city centre, as the live stream was happening.

When they arrived at the property, they found a man with extensive injuries. He was quickly taken to hospital, where he remains. He is receiving treatment and is in a serious but stable condition.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and affray following the incident. He remains in custody.

Detective Sergeant Andy Buxton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers responded very quickly when the video was brought to their attention and as a result a man was brought into custody a short time later.

“Causing harm to others purposely is completely unacceptable behaviour. This incident has left a man hospitalised with serious injuries, for which he is receiving treatment, and as well as the physical impact of such incidents we understand the emotional impact such incidents can have. This is why such reports will always be met with robust action.

“We do believe that those involved are known to each other, so we would reassure the public that there is no wider risk.

“Our investigation remains ongoing and officers continue to support the victim.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 86 of 10 February 2022.
