A man is alleged to have threatened to burn a house down with a family inside and shoot a man in a string of voice notes.
Officers attended an address in Albert Street, Newark, to make an arrest at around 2.55pm yesterday (Monday 2 August 2021) after the victims reportedly received the social media messages.
An investigation to determine the circumstances around the incident is ongoing.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and making threats to destroy property. He was bailed with conditions pending further enquiries.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Newark Charlotte Allardice said: “This is an incident that understandably would have caused a lot of distress for the family and we always take such reports seriously.
“Making such threats and causing such fear is absolutely unacceptable, and wherever there are such reports we will investigate thoroughly and take the appropriate measures to keep everyone safe.
“We would reassure people that we believe this is an isolated incident between people known to each other. However, neighbourhood officers will be in the area and we would encourage you to speak to them or get in touch with any concerns.
“A man has been arrested and officers are continuing their enquiries into the incident. We would urge anyone with information to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 432 of 2 August 2021.”
