Man arrested after wielding baseball bat on city street

A  police response led to a suspect being arrested following reports of a man wielding a baseball bat in the street.
Officers were called to the junction of Radford Road and Zulu Road, New Basford, after a man carrying a bat was reportedly spotted acting aggressively.

The man is alleged to have hit a number of walls and also argued with another man in the street.

Nobody was injured during the incident, which happened at around 5.40pm on Monday (June 27 2022).

Officers attended the scene minutes later and quickly arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of affray.

Sergeant Paul Eden, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I’m pleased that thanks to the rapid response of our officers, we were able to quickly move in and calm a potentially inflammatory situation without anyone coming to harm.

“I would also like to thank the public for alerting us to this incident, which helped lead us to arrest a suspect.

“Our enquiries are still ongoing, so we’d ask that anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information that could assist our investigation gets in contact with the police on 101, quoting incident 582 of 27 June 2022, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
