Man arrested after woman hit with hammer at a Nottingham flat

The woman is understood to have been punched in the face and repeatedly struck over the head with a weapon.

Police found the 39-year-old woman conscious but injured after being called to a flat in Norton Street, Radford, just after midnight earlier today (1 March 2022).

She was then taken to Queen’s Medical Centre and treated for injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.

Detective Constable Ben Grayson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are currently investigating an assault that left a woman with injuries to her head.

“After being called to an apartment in Radford, our officers quickly arrested a man in connection with this incident.

“We are in the process of carrying out enquires to establish what happened and would urge anyone who has any information that could help us to contact the police on 101 quoting incident 15 of 1 March 2022.”
