Man charged after being found in possession of six knives

A man has appeared in court charged with multiple knife possession offences as a result of more good work by a Nottinghamshire Police team.

Members of the force’s dedicated county knife crime team stopped a car in Sutton Road in Mansfield.

Six knives were recovered from the vehicle and a man was arrested.

The proactive stop was carried out at around 3pm on Sunday (22 May 2022).

Radu Dirloman, aged 30, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, was charged with six counts of possession of a knife in a public place.

He was subsequently released on bail while investigations continue and is next due to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on 7 June.

Sergeant Jonny Groves, of Nottinghamshire Police’s county knife crime team, said: “We know the devastating impact knife crime can have on families and communities which is why we treat it so seriously as a force.

“We continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our partners and communities in doing everything we can to keep people safe and prevent knife crime before it happens.

“Carrying knives on our streets will not be tolerated and we will continue to use every tactic at our disposal to drive down knife crime and remove harmful weapons from our streets.”
