A 26-year-old man has been arrested today on suspicion of attempting to engage a child in sexual communication.
Police say that officers carried out the arrest in Newark this morning after receiving information from an online activist group. A number of electronic devices were also seized.
He remains in custody and enquiries are continuing.
Chief Inspector Peter Quinn, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Public Protection department, said: “Sexual offences against children are treated with the utmost seriousness by Nottinghamshire Police.”
