A 27-year-old man has been arrested after a large quantity of drugs was found in the armrest following a pursuit and foot chase.
Officers were called to Curzon Street in St Ann’s at around 11.50am yesterday (21 May 2020) when they sighted a driver on his mobile phone, who then jumped a red light.
The driver failed to stop at Curzon Place and then ran off, but he was detained after a short foot chase.
Officers seized a large quantity of class A drugs in the armrest of the car, believed to be in the region of £8-10,000 in value.
The man was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance, driving whilst using a mobile phone, fail to stop for police, dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Waldram: “I’d like to thank the front-line officers who did some great work to detain the man after the pursuit and chase.
“We arrested the man and he has since been released under investigation.”
