Man attacked and robbed by group of men in Old Market Square

A man was kicked and punched by a group of men who then stole his phone and bank card.

He was attacked in Old Market Square, in Nottingham city centre, at around 2.30am today (Tuesday 6 July 2021).

The victim refused medical treatment but officers called for an ambulance so he could be checked over.

An investigation was quickly launched to find those responsible and following a search of the city centre officers arrested three suspects in Trinity Square.

Two men, aged 22 and 28, were detained on suspicion of robbery and a 19-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of robbery and possession of cannabis. All three remain in custody.

Detective Constable Natasha Ullyatt, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “It’s very fortunate the victim did not suffer more serious injuries during this vicious attack.

“Officers quickly located and arrested three suspects as part of the investigation and work is now underway to understand the circumstances and bring those responsible to account.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, including checking CCTV footage, and I’d now appeal to anyone who saw what happened or who has any information on what happened to please come forward.”
