Man bites police officer’s leg in Clifton house party incident

A police officer was bitten on the leg as he struggled to arrest a suspect at a party.

Officers were called to Highway Grove, Clifton, shortly before 2:45am on Monday morning after a number of cars were vandalised.

Subsequent investigations led the officers to a nearby house where a party was taking place.

As they struggled to detain a suspect, one of the officers was bitten on the leg.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Assaults on police officers are utterly unacceptable and will always be met with a very firm response. Our officers and other members of the emergency services go to work each day with one goal in mind – to keep the public safe.

“They deserve to return home to their families unharmed at the end of every shift. When that doesn’t happen we will leave no stone unturned in order to bring offenders to justice.”
