Man carrying knife and drugs ‘stumbles’ in front of passing police car

A man was stopped, searched and found to be carrying a knife and drugs after stumbling in and out of the road in front of a passing police car in Nottingham.

Officers drove along Bells Lane, Nottingham, at around 5am on Tuesday when the man came to their attention.

After a brief search, he was found to have a locking-style knife, as well as a small amount of what is believed to be cannabis and cocaine.

The 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A and B drugs and possessing a bladed article in a public place.

The drugs and the weapon were seized.

Inspector Sharon Powar, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“The consequences of carrying knives can be devastating for victims and offenders.

“That’s why we work so hard to remove them from the streets and hold the people who carry them to account.

“It is never acceptable to walk the streets armed with a weapon like this and people who do can expect serious consequences when we catch them.”
