A man caught on doorbell camera footage trying car doors in the same street has been jailed.
James Doran managed to get inside one of the four cars he targeted in Stapleford Lane, Toton, before he was challenged by the owner and walked off.
The 34-year-old, who tried the handles of the vehicles between 9.45pm and 10.25pm on Wednesday 20 March 2024, was arrested at the scene within minutes after police were contacted.
Doran, of Chilwell, went on to plead guilty to four counts of vehicle interference.
He was jailed for eight weeks when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday 22 March 2024.
Inspector Lisa Schooling, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I’m pleased we were able to quickly arrest Doran and charge him with vehicle interference offences due to the good work of PC Gealy, PC Bellaby, and PC Evans who attended the incident.
“Neighbourhood officers continue to be proactive in disrupting this type of behaviour by carrying out patrols, providing crime prevention advice, and targeting those involved in this sort of criminality.
“We would like to remind people to remain vigilant to the threat of vehicle crime, to report any suspicious activity to police, and to make sure they keep their vehicles locked and secure to deter thieves.”
