Police investigating the theft of a quantity of laptops from a school have charged a suspect.
A member of the public contacted the force just after 8pm on Friday 26 May when they saw a man fleeing Stanstead Primary School with a rucksack.
The alarm at the school had been activated and officers were quickly on the scene carrying out a thorough search of the area.
A man was detained at a golf course in Hucknall Road and taken into custody.
A rucksack containing 13 Apple iPads was recovered. Another nine laptops were found hidden in some bushes.
Officers believe the incident is linked to two other burglaries at Southglade Food Park in Bulwell on 11 and 12 May 2023, in which a laptop, £80 cash and two cameras were stolen.
Philip Edwards, aged 41, of no fixed address, has been charged with four counts of burglary. He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (29 May 2023).
Chief Inspector Chris Pearson said: “I would like to praise the very swift police response in this case, and also the member of the public who got in contact to report their suspicions to us.
“As this case demonstrates, we respond decisively when we believe offences of this nature may be in progress.”
