Man charged after allegedly carrying a knife in a Meadows shop

Police were called after a man was reportedly to be carrying a knife in a shop.

Police were called after a suspect was spotted in the Bridgeway Centre, The Meadows, at around 1.40pm yesterday (Friday).

Subsequent CCTV investigations led police to arrest a man later in the day.

A man from The Meadows has been charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

Sergeant Sharon Powar, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take all reports of knife crime extremely seriously and are working hard with our partners to dissuade people from carrying them in the first place.

“Just one knife can have devastating impacts on so many people – the victim, their family and even on the person who commits the offence. That’s why we work so hard to keep them off our streets.”
