Man charged after death of teenage boy in Nottingham collision

A motorist has been charged with causing the death of a teenage boy following a collision in Bramcote.

Emergency services were called to Chilwell Lane around 10am on Sunday 28 September 2025 following reports of an incident involving an electric bike and two cars.

The bike rider, 16-year-old Ryley Hutson, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of first responders.

Daniel Cartwright, aged 31, of Kettering, Northamptonshire, who is a serving police officer with Bedfordshire Police and was off-duty at the time, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He is expected to appear before magistrates in Nottingham on 6 August 2026.

Detective Inspector Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“This was a tragic incident which has had a devastating impact on Ryley’s family.

“They have been updated about this important step in our investigation, and our thoughts remain with them.”
