An elderly woman was confronted in her home by a man who allegedly shoved her out of the way before stealing her television, phone and house keys.

The burglary happened in Furlong Avenue, Arnold, at around midday on Saturday (15 May 2021).

It’s also alleged the same victim’s bank card was used fraudulently last month.

Evan Pidgeon, 32, of no fixed address, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (20 May 2021) charged with burglary, fraud, theft and assault by beating.

Pidgeon was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 17 June 2021.

Detective sergeant Julian Eminson-Ferry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take reports of this nature incredibly seriously and will do all we can to bring people before the courts for these kind of distressing offences.

“I’d like to reassure people that Nottinghamshire Police treats burglary and fraud with the utmost importance, the force will investigate reports and continue its tireless work to bring offenders to justice.”
