Man charged after elderly woman pushed in her own home and had valuables stolen

An elderly woman was confronted in her home by a man who allegedly shoved her out of the way before stealing her television, phone and house keys.

The burglary happened in Furlong Avenue, Arnold, at around midday on Saturday (15 May 2021).

It’s also alleged the same victim’s bank card was used fraudulently last month.

Evan Pidgeon, 32, of no fixed address, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (20 May 2021) charged with burglary, fraud, theft and assault by beating.

The theft charge relates to a report of alcohol stolen from a store in Beeston on 10 April 2021.

“I’d like to reassure people that Nottinghamshire Police treats burglary and fraud with the utmost importance, the force will investigate reports and continue its tireless work to bring offenders to justice.”
