Man charged after group of people armed with a knife force their way into a Nottingham house

A man has been charged following an incident where a group of people forced their way into a house armed with a knife.

A man was located near to the incident in Walnut Tree Gardens, Bulwell at around 1.45pm on Wednesday (26 May 2021) as a result of quick enquiries by response officers from Nottinghamshire Police.

Nothing was taken apart from a coat which was dropped when the suspects fled.

An 18-year-old man from Nottingham has been charged with aggravated burglary and two counts of possession of a class B controlled substance.

He was remanded into custody after appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (28 May) and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 27 August.

Detective Sergeant Jon Kerry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers did a fantastic job to quickly respond to the incident and make initial enquiries that led to an arrest.

“Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident and we are now working hard to establish the circumstances.

“Burglary is very serious and whenever a weapon is involved, there is always the potential for something far more dangerous to happen.”

Enquiries continue in relation to any remaining suspects and officers are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to get in touch as soon as possible.
