Police investigating the theft of two laptops and a mobile phone from a Nottingham coffee shop have charged a suspect.
Two sisters were sitting inside 200 Degrees Coffee, in Milton Street, in Nottingham city centre, when a man snatched their belongings from a table.
One of the sisters was assaulted as she chased after the thief.
Members of the public intervened and detained the suspect in nearby Upper Parliament Street until officers arrived moments later and arrested him.
Adam Beard, of Upper Parliament Street, Nottingham, has been charged with two counts of theft and assault with intent to resist arrest in connection with the incident, which happened at around 5.30pm on Tuesday (23 July).
The 47-year-old was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 10 September 2024.
PC Jake Self, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a distressing incident for the two victims and the members of the public who bravely intervened.
“We have conducted a thorough investigation and are pleased to have been able to charge a suspect in connection with this incident and put them before the courts.”
