Man charged after member of public reports person with a knife in St Ann’s

A man has been charged after police were called to reports of a man with a knife.

Officers were called to Colville Street just after 9pm on Wednesday evening (1 September 2021), when the man was reportedly seen with a knife by a member of the public.

Officers have then followed the suspect onto Huntingdon Street where he is reportedly seen discarding the large object over a wall before being detained by officers.

A 19-year-old man from St Ann’s, Nottingham, has now been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on 3 September 2021.

Detective Sergeant Jon Kerry, of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Nottinghamshire Police will not tolerate the display of dangerous weapons in public and we worked hard in this instance to track down, arrest and charged a suspect very quickly.

“Reports of this nature are taken very seriously and officers will always take proactive measures and act swiftly to ensure everyone’s safety.”
