Two men have been charged following separate incidents where officers were assaulted over the weekend.
Officers were attending reports that a man was trying to break into a car in Trent Boulevard, Lady Bay, when it is alleged an officer was punched and pushed against some barriers.
A 22-year-old from Lenton, has since been charged with assaulting an emergency worker in relation to the incident, which happened just before 6.30am on Saturday (27 November 2021).
He has been released on bail to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 4 January 2022.
Just after 11.55pm on Sunday, officers were responding to reports of a man being racially abusive towards a group of people in Radford Road, Hyson Green.
As they arrived and were resolving the incident, an officer was reported to have been kicked and another spat at.
A 28-year-old man of no fixed address, has since been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
Officers also recovered a quantity of cannabis and Sykes was also charged with possessing a class B drug.
He has also been bailed and his next court appearance it yet to be confirmed.
Chief Inspector Fifi Gulam-Husen, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “It is appalling when we hear reports of officers being subject to hate or abuse and it is not part of the job for them to expect to come face-to-face with that.
“Day in and day out they are in the community and serving the public and, as we have shown time and time again, we will take a robust and zero-tolerance approach whenever such behaviour is reported to us.
“Thankfully the officers were unhurt, but we continue to work with them and fully support them as a force. Two men have now been charged and will appear before the courts.”
