Man charged after stallholder threatened at Nottingham Christmas Market

Officers have made an arrest after a Christmas stall holder was reportedly threatened.

It was reported that a man was spotted moving a barrier whilst the Christmas market was being set up in Old Market Square, Nottingham.

A tradesman confronted the man and it is believed the man then made threats towards the stall holder before running off following the incident on Sunday (14 November 2021).

A 38-year-old man from Hyson Green, has since been charged with public order offences and has been bailed, with conditions, to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 23 December 2021.

Detective Sergeant Chris Berryman, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Alongside our partners, we are working hard to ensure the Christmas market is a safe and enjoyable experience.

“Any allegations that a stall holder or member of staff, who are simply bringing the festive spirit to Nottingham, have been threatened or subject to abuse will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.

“A man has now been charged following this incident and is due to appear in court, and our enquiries are ongoing.”
