Two police officers were assaulted as they responded to an emergency call.
One was grabbed around the neck and the other kicked in the legs as they fought to restrain a suspect who was eventually brought under control using irritant spray.
The incident happened after the officers responded to a disturbance in Loughborough Avenue, Sneinton, shortly after 9.50pm yesterday (Monday) night.
A 24-year-old man from Blackburn has been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and released on police bail.
He will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 28 July.
Inspector Mark Stanley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Assaults against police officers are wholly unacceptable and will never be tolerated by Nottinghamshire Police.
“Thankfully the officers in this case were not seriously hurt but sadly their experiences serve as yet another reminder of the dangers faced by our officers every time they pull on their uniforms and go out on patrol.”
