A suspect has appeared in court after detectives traced a car which had been stolen in a house burglary.
Police were called to Portland Road, West Bridgford, after a break-in at a property overnight on 13 to 14 May 2023.
The homeowner woke to discover her car had been stolen from the driveway. The car keys, as well as a bag, had been taken from inside the property.
Detectives carried out detailed investigations at the West Bridgford scene before the vehicle was traced and located in Newark.
Lee Quarless, aged 35, of no fixed abode, has now been charged with burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and using a vehicle without a licence or insurance.
He has also been charged with criminal damage after the inside of a police cell was damaged while he was under arrest.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (2 June) and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 30 June 2023.
A 38-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of burglary in relation to the same incident has been released on police bail.
