The 47-year-old is scheduled to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning.

Inspector Nick Butler, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This is a particularly challenging period to be working as an emergency worker and incidents like this really highlight the risks we all face.

“We know when we go to work each day we are taking risks to keep everyone safe but we also have families to go home and this really adds to their concerns.“
