Man charged after woman and baby left in overturned car

PUBLISHED:

A man has been charged after a woman and toddler were reportedly lefty abandoned in an overturned car after it crashed.

Derbyshire Police said a Vauxhall Corsa hit five cars and overturned after failing to stop for officers in Long Eaton.

Officers added that the driver ran into a canal in an attempt to get away.

Nobody was seriously injured in the crash in Tamworth Road on Saturday afternoon 12th January.

Derbyshire Roads Police said at the scene:

‘Corsa on false plates fails to stop. Lost in town centre. Then found flipped on its roof after hitting 5 cars. Driver seen jumping into the canal leaving his partner and 18 month baby in the car. No serious injuries. Driver arrested and remains in custody.
