Man charged with attempted murder after NTU staff member stabbed multiple times on campus

A suspect is due to appear in court after a man was stabbed at a university.

Police were called to the Clifton Campus at Nottingham Trent University at around 10.41am on Monday morning.

The victim, a male member of staff aged in his 50s, suffered multiple injuries during the attack and remains in hospital.

Hs injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

Ryan Usher, aged 48, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.

He has also been charged with assault in relation to an incident where a woman was spat on in in Hucknall Road, Sherwood Rise, on the afternoon of Saturday 22 January.

Usher, of Waldeck Road, Carrington, will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court later today.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Bull, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers have been working hard to investigate Monday’s attack.

“I am pleased that we have now been able to bring a charge not only in this case, but also for another incident where a woman was spat on.”
