A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a woman was found inside a home with serious injuries.
Officers were called to Mill Road, Newthorpe, at 8.05pm on Friday (6 June) following reports that a woman, aged in her 70s, had been stabbed.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and detectives launched an investigation.
Fifty-one-year-old Lee Bates, of Mill Road, has been charged with attempted murder.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Monday) and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 7 July 2025.
Detective Sergeant Jackie Price, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was an isolated incident inside a home but we understand residents in the area may have been concerned by the police presence.
“I hope they are reassured by our investigation which has now seen a suspect placed before the courts at the earliest opportunity.”
