A 38-year old man has been charged with the murder of an 87 year old man, following a fatal collision with a pedestrian and a series of other incidents in Mansfield and Ashfield on Good Friday.
Gavin Collins, 38, of Addison Street in Tibshelf, Derbyshire, has been charged with murder, kidnap, robbery, attempted robbery, two counts of burglary and two counts of aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, in connection with the series of incidents.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday 22 April.
Officers were called at 9.10am on Good Friday to a report that a car had collided with a residential property in Mansfield Road, Skegby.
Detectives also investigated a further incident in Melbourne Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, where a vehicle had collided with a number of vehicles and a pedestrian.
The air ambulance attended the scene of the second incident to treat the pedestrian for his injuries. However, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
